Dr. Chen gave two guest lectures, one for undergraduate chemistry students and another for postgraduate and doctorate students. In the guest lecture for undergraduate students, Dr. Chen presented his research titled “The role of graphene hybridization in photocatalytic, clean energy, biosensing, and photonic applications“. In that occasion, Dr. Chem explained the roles of graphene as photocatalyst, biosensor, and photonic application in details. He also explaintd the history of graphene utilization and graphene synthesis method briefly.
On the second day, Dr. Chen presented his research titled “Synthetic strategies of inorganic metal oxides in nanoscale. Field: inorganic solid state chemistry”. He described the most recent approach for metal oxide synthesis, including synthesis of oxide metal-based materials such as nano-sized titanium dioxide and spinel ferrite.
In addition, in this occasion, Dr Chen and Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science and Technology Universitas Airlangga also discussed about future collaborations with National Sun Yat Sen University (NSYSU) in research and student or staff exchange. The curriculum of Department of Chemistry in both universities was also described in order to explore the opportunity of establishing Master’s dual degree program in Department of Chemistry in Universitas Airlangga and NSYSU.
