Airlangga University was established on November 10, 1954, based on Government Regulation Number 57 of 1954. Currently, Universitas Airlangga has 13 faculties and 1 postgraduate program, 95 departments and 165 study programs consisting of associate degree programs, bachelor degree programs, master degree programs, doctoral degree programs, professional programs and specialist programs spread across three campus locations namely Campus A, Campus B and Campus C. The Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) has 4 departments, namely the Department of Biology, Department of Physics, Department of Chemistry and Department of Mathematics.
The Chemistry Program at the Faculty of Science and Technology (previously named Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences) Airlangga University was established in 1982 with a Decree of Director General of Higher Education No. 048/DJ/Krp/1982 and Decree of Director General of Higher Education No. 117/DIKTI/Kep/1984. The name change from Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) to Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) is based on the Decree of the Rector of Unair No. 3294/JO3/OT/2008, dated April 10, 2008.
The name change from the major of Chemistry to the Department of Chemistry preceded the change in the name of the faculty, which was based on the Rector’s Decree dated October 22, 2007 No. 9939/JO3/HK/2007. The extension of the study program license has been carried out continuously, the last one was extended by the Rector’s Decree No. 1/UN/2015, dated March 8, 2015.
The Department of Chemistry manages 2 study programs, namely the bachelor’s degree program in chemistry and the master’s degree program in chemistry. The bachelor’s degree program in chemistry has been accredited A by BAN-PT for 2 consecutive periods and in 2015 obtained an AUN Certificate. Meanwhile, the master’s degree program in Chemistry has also been accredited B by BAN-PT for 2 consecutive periods. The bachelor’s degree program in chemistry has five fields of interest, namely Analytical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry and Physical Chemistry.
