UNAIR Chemistry Lecturer Assists High School Chemistry Teachers in Tanjungpinang to Innovate Learning Activities with Computational Chemistry Simulations

Tanjungpinang – A team of lecturers from the Organic Chemistry Research Group (KBK), Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) once again showed their dedication through Community Service activities. This time, the activity took place in Tanjungpinang City, Riau Islands Province, as a form of collaboration with the Tanjungpinang City Chemistry Subject Teacher Association (MGMP),

The training, which was held on Saturday (8/6/2024) at SMAN 4 Tanjungpinang City, aimed to provide insight and skills to high school chemistry teachers in utilizing computational chemistry as a learning medium. With this approach, teachers are expected to be able to create more interactive and interesting chemistry learning for students.

The head of the implementation team said that the integration of computational chemistry into learning can be a solution to increase students’ interest in chemistry. “Chemistry is often considered difficult by students. With the help of computational chemistry, abstract concepts can be visualized so that they are easier to understand and attract students’ attention,” he said.

This activity received an enthusiastic response from the participants consisting of high school chemistry teachers in Tanjungpinang City. They hope that similar training can continue to be held to support innovation in education, especially in chemistry.

Through this collaboration, UNAIR continues to be committed to contributing to the development of education in Indonesia, especially through community service involving various elements of educators in the regions.
