color changes caused by pH variations. This study further explores the potential of ethanol extract from sappan wood (<em data-start=\"406\" data-end=\"426\">Caesalpinia sappan<\/em> L.) as a metal detection agent.<\/p><br><p data-start=\"460\" data-end=\"693\">This study supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), by advancing environmentally friendly detection techniques and contributing to environmental and public health monitoring.<\/p><br><p data-start=\"695\" data-end=\"894\">Through visual observation and UV analysis, color changes in sappan wood extract can be clearly observed. Computational analysis was also performed to evaluate stability and complex formation energy.<\/p><br><p data-start=\"896\" data-end=\"1072\">Sappan wood extract exhibits a yellow color; when Pb(NO\u2083)\u2082 and Pb(OAc)\u2082 were added, the color changed to pink with maximum absorbance values at \u03bbmax = 462 nm and \u03bbmax = 512 nm.<\/p><br><p data-start=\"1074\" data-end=\"1207\">The addition of FeCl\u2083 and Fe(NO\u2083)\u2082 resulted in a cream-colored appearance with maximum absorbance at \u03bbmax = 436 nm and \u03bbmax = 454 nm.<\/p><br><p data-start=\"1209\" data-end=\"1326\">The addition of CuSO\u2084 produced a peach-colored appearance with maximum absorbance at \u03bbmax = 444 nm and \u03bbmax = 500 nm.<\/p><br><p data-start=\"1328\" data-end=\"1522\">Chelate formation stability, calculated using Density Functional Theory (DFT), showed that the Fe complex was the most stable, with the highest interaction energy value E(2) of 1907.83 kcal\/mol.<\/p><br><p data-start=\"1524\" data-end=\"1707\">The Cu complex demonstrated highly stable formation with an energy value of 824.90 kcal\/mol, while the Pb complex
