Seven New UNAIR Professors Inaugurated, Two from Chemistry Department FST
Rector of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) inaugurated seven new professors. The addition of these professors further emphasizes UNAIR’s contribution, especially in the field of education. The inaugural session took place on Wednesday, October 11, 2020 at Garuda Mukti Hall, MERR-C Campus UNAIR.
The seven professors are Prof. Dr. Miratul Khasanah M.Si. and Prof. Mochamad Zakki Fahmi, S.Si., M.Si., P.hD. from Chemistry FST UNAIR, Prof Dr Dra Ni’matuzahroh, Prof Dr Endang Dewi Masithah Ir MP, Prof Dr Sindy Cornelia Nelwan drg SpKGA. Prof Dr Dian Agustin Wahjuningrum drg SpKG (K), and Prof Tania Saskianti drg PhD SpKGA (K).
“Professor is the highest position in the academic field. But in fact, it is the beginning of a more complete and significant service for the benefit of mankind,” said UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih SE MT Ak.
Keep Spreading the Spirit
At this momentum, the rector hopes that what the professors have done must continue in the future. As well as the spirit of serving and exploring science, professors must be able to transmit and spread the spirit in the surrounding environment.
“Of course, the scientific authority to develop science is in the hands of professors who are now inaugurated. We hope that the academic pulpit in accordance with each science can take part better,” he said.
The Rector also said not to get tired of learning. Do not be defeated by the rapid development of science. Do not let the highest position stop the learning process that has been nurtured. Adaptation and continuing to thirst for knowledge are important keys that must continue to be owned.
Grounding the Science
The Rector also hopes that the height of knowledge still brings humility. Society now needs scientists who are down to earth. The knowledge that the gubes have must be directly felt by the community and not just a theoretical cloud. For him, it is important how this knowledge can have a direct impact on society.
“These professors are clearly scientifically and their experience is in the sky. Maybe they are already in the seventh heaven. But their work is grounded and very useful for mankind,” he added (*)
