Guest Lecture with Dr. Hasliza Bahruji from Universiti Brunei Darussalam Discusses Photocatalysis for Hydrogen Production

Surabaya, August 21, 2026 — The Chemistry Study Program held a Guest Lecture featuring Dr. Hasliza Bahruji from Universiti Brunei Darussalam as the speaker. The event focused on the topic “Photocatalysis for Hydrogen Production: Theory, Application and Research Methodology.”

The guest lecture discussed recent developments in photocatalysis research for hydrogen production, covering fundamental concepts, applications, and research methodologies in the development of sustainable hydrogen production technologies. In her presentation, Dr. Hasliza Bahruji explained the potential of hydrogen as one of the promising clean energy sources for the future. Hydrogen production through photocatalytic approaches is one of the strategies that continues to be developed due to its utilization of renewable energy and its potential to support the development of more environmentally friendly energy technologies.

In addition to discussing the fundamental theory of photocatalysis, the speaker also presented various applications of photocatalysis in hydrogen production as well as methodological approaches that can be applied in research. Participants gained insights into the development of photocatalytic materials and various research aspects that support sustainable hydrogen production. The event was held interactively and attended by students and the academic community of the Chemistry Study Program. Following the presentation, the event continued with a discussion and question-and-answer session, providing participants with an opportunity to directly discuss recent research developments and the application of photocatalysis in the energy sector with the speaker.

Through this guest lecture, students are expected to broaden their knowledge of recent developments in photocatalysis, materials, renewable energy, and hydrogen production. The event is also expected to encourage students to pursue innovative research and contribute to the development of sustainable energy. This guest lecture served as one of the academic activities supporting the enhancement of students’ knowledge through the exchange of knowledge and experience with academics from an international institution.
